For the first time in Georgia a standard of Georgian as a Foreign Language was developed. The standard working group was composed of the experts of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the language experts suggested by the Member of Parliament Guram Chakhvadze. Guram Chakhvadze personally expressed his will to participate in the standard development process and the Ministry supported his initiative.
An electronic version of the standard was presented to the committee. The first working meeting of the committee was held at the Ministry. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini took part in the working meeting.
The standard combines the levels of learning Georgian language (A1-A2; B1-B2). The mobile program covers different topics of Georgian language. The program is intended to support the development of language skills (speaking, writing, listening, and reading) necessary in everyday and business relations.
The standard of Georgian as a foreign language is designed for teachers, methodologists, educational program and textbook authors, educational literature publishers and editors as well as for self learners and for the people who are involved in teaching/learning process of Georgian as a foreign language.
In the future it is planned to add listening tabs to the vocabulary part so that user can master the pronunciation. The special texts will be added to the program as well.
