First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze attended the opening ceremony of Greek culture festival “Olympus” at private school “Olympus”. Ambassador of Hellenic Republic to Georgia Mr. Georgios Chatzimikhelakis, Tbilisi City Assembly Chairperson Mamuka Akhvlediani and representatives of higher educational institutions also participated in the event.
Supporters of this festival are Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Tbilisi City Assembly Institute of Classical Philology, Byzantinology and Modern Greek Studies.
Basic and secondary level schoolchildren of Tbilisi public and private schools will participate in the mentioned festival.
The aim of the festival is to support enhancing the knowledge on Greek civilization among schoolchildren. Festival will have 6 directions: Exhibition of art works featuring the realities of Greek mythos and history, analytical essay contest, organization of literature performances, submission of project proposals, arrangement of competition in Greek language and in Greek mythos.
While preparing for the festival, schoolchildren will have opportunity to utilize the library of Institute of Classical Philology, Byzantinology and Modern Greek Studies. Institute lecturers were also consulted while developing Festival materials.
Participant of the festival will receive diplomas, books and other gifts.
