The First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze, the President of Georgian Tennis Federation Leila Meskhi and the Representative of International Tennis Federation Goran Shevchenko attended the presentation of Tennis Program at First Experimental School of Tbilisi. The sport teachers from different public schools of Tbilisi were also invited to this event.
The presentation of the program was held in the scope of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Georgian Tennis Federation. In the framework of MOC 10 Public Schools of Tbilisi were selected. The Georgian Tennis Federation will undertake teaching of tennis and training of teachers at selected schools. Federation will also provide these schools with necessary sports inventories and organize competitions.
Joint project of the Georgian Federation and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia aims at promoting a healthy life style among schoolchildren and introduction of tennis classes at public schools. Introduction of tennis classes at school will contribute to the development and popularization of Georgian Tennis and will enhance sports performance of the schoolchildren.
From 2010-2011 academic year amendments were introduced to the national curriculum and physical culture lessons were replaced by sports classes. Sports classes have become more engaging for the schoolchildren.
