The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia  Dimitri Shashkini visited several educational institutions in Kutaisi. 

 

First, the President paid a visit to Kutaisi Professional College and got familiar with the ongoing construction works of the learning centers in the yard of the college, he also got acquainted with the material technical equipments used in the learning process. 

 

Kutaisi Professional College has been fully rehabilitated in the scope of the President’s National program. The college has a modern infrastructure and it offers diverse professions, among them: restaurant manager, baker, cook, painter, constructor, mason, electrician, technician, sewer, computer graphic designer, etc. To meet the modern market requirements, the Center trains specialist in the fields of service, construction, and tourism. Therefore, the college is quite popular in the city, - 2961 students have been trained throughout 4 years, out of them- 14% had received higher education, 13%- had basic education. Up to 1806 students are employed.

 

Mikheil Saakashvili also visited Kutaisi Information Center, that started operating in April, 2011. The Center provides the relevant information to all interested persons and assists the students to get registered for the professional programs. By the initiative of the Ministry of Education and Science, overall three such Information Centers have been set up throughout Georgia; they are located in Kutaisi, Kobuleti and Tbilisi. These centers have been equipped with modern technical and material facilities and are staffed with qualified personnel.

 

In the scope of his visit to the city of Kutaisi, the President also visited Z.Zhvania School of Public Administration. He met 80 ethnic Azerbaijanian citizens who currently take up an intensive course in Georgian language; they are school principals in Kvemo Kartli Region.

 

By the initiative of the President, various programs are being implemented at the Z.Zhvania School of Public Administration. The goal of these programs is to enhance the learning of the state language among the ethnic minorities and contribute to the process of civic integration of ethnic minority population. In this regard, the role of Z.Zhvania School of Public Administration is very important, since the institution trains the ethnic minority citizens employed in public sector and provides an intensive course in Georgian Language. Moreover, by the initiative of the President of Georgia, the institutions started to offer a long term state language learning courses for the ethnic minorities as well as short term courses in IT and English language.
