Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Irine Kurdadze took part in the conference on the Reforms in Juvenile Justice. Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Khatuna Kalmakhelidze, Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Vashadze, Ambassador of Delegation of European Union to Georgia Philip Dimitrov and Caucasus Representative of the United Nations Children’s Fund Roland Monasch also participated in the conference.
The reform in Juvenile Justice is implemented by the Ministry of Corrections and Legal Assistance and the Ministry of Justice with the financial support of UNICEF, European Union and the Netherlands Government.
The goal of the reform is to create such system of juvenile justice that envisages the rehabilitation and re-socialization of convicts.
As a result of the activities planned in the scope of the reform, the rights of juveniles in probation and at the institutions of correction will be protected.
