First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze, Minister of Environment Protection of Georgia Goga Khachidze and Deputy Head of UN in Georgia, Inita Paulovica, visited Tbilisi First Classic Gymnasium, participated in the presentation of the contest “Green School” and presented the school with the “Green Box”. The event was held in the scope of the Environment Protection Week.
On the initiative of the Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia, a project “Collect Macula Paper and Save Forest” is being implemented; it caused a great interest among the population. The Ministry’s slogan of this year is – Nature At Your Service.
Within the frame of the above mentioned project, Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia announced a contest “Green Box”.
Within the frame of this contest, the “Green Boxes” will be placed in schools to encourage the school students to collect the macula paper, after a year, on the World Environment Day; the “greenest” school will be selected based on the certain criteria.
The collected macula paper will be recycled. The aim of this contest is to promote collecting of the macula papers, paper recycling and popularizing of the paper bags.
