Announcement of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Constitutional Safety Department have revealed the fact of bribery in the education system.
As the investigation showed, the founders of Ltd. Caucasus Academic Center David Tsetskhladze and Nikoloz Bakarashvili attempted to bribe the high ranking official of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with 50.000 USD in order to get textbook approval for the books the Center had brought from foreign countries. The books would be used in education process in case of their approval.
Besides the 50.000 USD suspects tried to bribe the high ranking official with the 33% of income from the sale of the books. The suspects were arrested by the police.
One should remember that the time of nepotism and corruption in Georgia is over. Any violation of law is strictly controlled.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is one of the transparent and uncorrupted institutions of Georgia. The Ministry will continue to investigate such facts and react in accordance with Georgian legislation.
