The Agency of Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia undertakes rehabilitation of the secondary schools throughout Georgia, the agency also constructs new schools - one of them is Melaani public school in Gurjaani. Minister Dimitri Shashkini observed the ongoing construction works on site. From a new academic year, the school will start functioning.
Up to 200 schoolchildren will have opportunity to study in a modern school. The old building of the school has not been functioning since 2005. That is why, the schoolchildren had to study in the buildings of local municipality, village ambulatory and kindergarten.
New school building will be equipped with modern technical equipments; it will have school laboratory, library, computer class and sports hall.
Melaani public school students participate in the competition and contests administered by the Ministry. Two of them won top places at national school Olympiad in History and French Language. The school students also successfully passed high school leaving exams. Out of 14 graduates, majority of the schoolchildren plan to continue their studies at Kachreti Professional College. After pursuing a concrete specialty at the college, they will have opportunity to study at higher educational institutions, should they wish so.
