As the Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkini says, the MES is ready to listen to the opinions of citizens and take them into consideration. Parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition members, representatives of Free Professional Union of Teachers and Scientists, Union of Private Schools, Union of Employers and Education Professional Syndicate, as well as representatives of other NGOs have already joined the Public Board. Teachers, school principals and experts will participate in the work of the Public Board.
The Minister took a decision of creating a Public Board after meeting with the parliamentary and non- parliamentary opposition members, Free Professional Union of Teachers and Scientists and representatives of NGO sector who work on education issues. On February 5, the Minister held a special meeting with them and introduced current and upcoming initiatives of the Ministry of Education and Science to be carried out in 2010-2011.
The following issues were discussed during the meeting: introducing various initiatives at schools, teachers’ certification with the purpose of their professional development, improving the national curriculum and school textbooks as well as creating safe schools.
During the meeting, the Minister listened to the arguments of each participant and answered their questions.
