The President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili and Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini along with the foreign guests opened new computer factory that has been built by the company “Algorithm” in cooperation with international company Intel. In the framework of the Agreement signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and “Algorithm”, 50 trainers have trained 3500 subject teachers. Computers for first grade schoolchildren will be assembled in the factory. All necessary programs will be installed in the computers. From 2010-2011 academic year, the net-books assembled in the factory will be distributed to 60 000 first grade schoolchildren of Georgia.
About 100 people are employed in the factory. He graduates of Informational Technologies Professional Education Center are also employed in the factory and their monthly salary equals to 700 GEL.
Annually about million computers will be assembled in the factory and they will be also sold abroad. In the future the factory will produce any kind of computer equipments and more people will be employed.
The factory has gained DOEM status from Microsoft and has the right to buy Microsoft licensed programs with de-escalated prices. Such companies as HP, DELL, and LENOVO also use this service. In the framework of the Memoranda signed with “Microsoft” and “Intel”, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will be provided with necessary educational materials and resources.
The factory has already applied for ISO standard.
