USAID’s Vocational Education Project in Georgia (VEP) has been completed. Official project closing ceremony was held at Icarus Vocational Educational Center, one of the schools supported by VEP.
USAID has been implementing various projects at Georgian vocational education institutions for the last three years: assistance provided to designated Vocational Education Training Centers and Colleges among others includes: purchasing of the technical equipments for college “Spektri”, developing textbooks in vocations in tourism and construction sectors, strengthening the skills of vocational education teachers, setting up employment data base, establishing the Advisory boards within the colleges, composed of the business sector representatives and respective field specialists.
The aim of the presentation held at “Ikaros” was to celebrate the results of the US’s governments Vocational Education Project in Georgia. In the frame of the event, project representatives showcased the numerous improvements and innovations made to the vocational education system of Georgia. The textbooks developed within the scope of this project were handed over to the Ministry of Education and Science.
The event were attended by First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze, Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia, H.E. Mr. John Rodney Bass Mission Director, U.S. Agency for International Development, Mr. Jock Conly, as well as principals of vocational educational colleges, representatives of employer’s companies, USAID’ partner companies and other invited guests.
