Teacher Professional Development Center under Ministry organized two-week training for the teachers of various schools of Georgia in Nottingham, UK. From July 23 to August 7, teachers took an intensive training in English Language and Teaching Methodology at New College Nottingham. Teachers of English language, Biology and Chemistry arrived in the UK to enhance their professional skills. A special course” Science” was offered to the teachers of Biology and Chemistry.
Teachers of Biology and Chemistry got acquainted with the UK’s educational system via training courses. During the training, they discussed all novelties introduced in the learning process at UK’s educational institutions. British colleagues focused on the following components of learning and teaching process: individual approach to each child, applying group work principles at class, using online resources and other supplementary learning materials such as games, tests.
Teachers of English language took up training in IT technologies in Learning Process and in the Methods of Raising Students’ Motivation at class. In the course of the trainings, British experts discussed an importance of introducing group work principles in learning process, as well as significance of the various methods of learning, like role plays, work in pairs and groups. Georgian teachers also got familiar with the dialects of English Language.
In the scope of the trainings, Georgian teachers had opportunity to visit the local schools and observed the lessons there. They had a chance to see different class cabinets in the schools, including computer room, as well as sport hall and arts cabinet.
Georgian teachers also visited different colleges of the University of Cambridge and received information on higher education system of the country.
Trainings were held every day except weekends. Teacher Professional Development Center under Ministry administrated the training of the teachers in the UK for the second time.
