Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia completed selection of the candidates for the state program “Georgian Language for Future Success” on August 1st.
Selected candidates will teach Georgian language to the students of non-Georgian schools in Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kakheti regions. Minister Dimitri Shashkini met future teachers.
All citizens of Georgia, who are native speakers of Georgian language and hold B.A or M.A were eligible to participate in the open competition for the Georgian Language for Future Success Program. Up to 800 candidates participated in the contest. 381 participants passed the first round which tested the candidates’ knowledge in Georgian Language and Literature. Selection committee chose 186 candidates. The candidates were trained in the following subjects: modern methods of learning and development, cultural diversity and bilingual learning. Trainings were conducted at Kutaisi Z. Zhvania School of Public Administration.
Trained teachers will commence their activities from September in non- Georgian schools of Kvemo Kartli, Samtskhe-Javakheti and Kakheti regions. They will live in host families.
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will fund M.A studies of B.A participants of the program based on their one year work experience. At the same time, experience gained in the frame of the program will be considered in case the participants opt to pass Teacher Certification Exams and further pursue their career in teaching.
Selection of the candidates for the second wave of the mentioned program will start in September.
