The schoolchildren first expressed their interest to visit the factory, so the Minister acquiesced and invited them on a tour of the factory. By the initiative of the President of Georgia, 60000 net-books have been presented to all 1st graders and their teachers throughout Georgia. The net-books have been assembled in this factory and the educational programs, recommended by international experts, have been installed in the net-books.
In order to effectively integrate net-books in the education process, teachers are required to pass special trainings. As the result of the trainings, teachers are able to prepare lessons and educational projects using the new information technologies (ICT).
The computer factory was opened by the President of Georgia on July 25, 2011. The factory can assemble about one million computers annually. Plans include possibly selling computers abroad as well. In the future the factory will produce a variety of computer equipments, creating a need for greater numbers of Georgian employees.
