According to the new national curriculum, the teaching of a new elective subject, “World culture,” has begun and is planned to continue throughout the 2011-2016 academic years.
In 2011-2012, this new subject was chosen by 550 secondary and private schools.
By the initiative of National Curriculum and Assessment Center of MES, school teachers of “World Culture” from all 550 schools are being trained in new teaching methodologies and content.
Teachers of Tbilisi, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, Imereti, Guria, Adjara, Racha - Lechkhumi, Svaneti, Mtskheta - Mtianeti, Abkhazia, and Samtskhe – Javakheti schools are being trained in 25 different Training Centers.
The teaching of “World Culture” aims to foster students’ positive attitude towards cultural diversity, tolerance and good communication skills in an increasingly diverse cultural environment and global society.
