Successful Georgian scientists currently participate in the Forum of Georgian Scientists working abroad, organized by Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation under the Ministry. Visiting the Public Health Reference Laboratory was the part of the program of the forum. The laboratory was built through joint cooperation between Georgia and the US.

27 million GEL has been allocated in the budget of the Rustaveli Science Foundation for the fiscal year of 2012 to fund such scientific projects. The grantees will have the opportunity to use Public Health Reference Laboratory for conducting their research.

The aim of the laboratory is to ensure a centralized system of oversight over infectious human and animal diseases in Georgia.

The newly built laboratory will further enhance the scientific cooperation between Georgian, American and international researchers and scientists.

The laboratory will be staffed with experienced personnel in the field of public health, veterinary and infectious diseases.
