During the briefing, the First Deputy Minister, Akaki Seperteladze, evaluated the project of providing schools with internet connection and spoke about the significance of this process.

By the end of 2010, at least 1,428 schools and Educational Resource Centers will be provided with internet connection. As a result of this project, 75% of school children will have an opportunity to use internet. By Spring 2011, all public schools and Educational Resource Centers will be provided with high quality internet.    

Within the framework of the project General Government Network (GGN), an agreement was signed between LTD “Magticom”, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Development Agency in 2009. This agreement gives to all public schools and Educational Resource Centers an opportunity to be connected to the unified educational network.

Currently around 600 public schools have internet connection and internet is available for 50% of total number of schoolchildren. The speed of school internet connection to the shared drive is very high.
