Deputy Minister Nodar Surguladze participated in an event marked as part of World AIDs day, awarded the winners of the project Choice on You, and presented the participating school principals and teachers with special prizes and certificates.
The Ministry of Education and Science
of Georgia supports the above mentioned project as a main component of HIV prevention
in Georgia. USAID funds the initiative, while the organization “New
Generation-New Initiative” implements it.
The projects’ aim is to connect IX-XII form schoolchildren in various
competitions such as the national competition “Make the right choice!” slogans and
photos contest and activities, including a short theatrical performance and
competition for World AID's day marathons.
The aim of the competition was to encourage schoolchildren to live healthy
life, increase young people’s awareness about the negative effects of HIV
infection and other dangerous habits (drugs, tobacco, alcohol), and also to foster
schoolchildren’s creative skills and intellectual development.
