On the grounds of Tbilisi State Medical University, a training centre for academic personal has been created. University’s students and professors will have the great opportunity to pass internship programs and learn new methodologies in leading European medical centers.
This initiative was implemented in the scope of the project “Modernization of Medical Education in the Eastern European Neighborhood Countries,” which is financed by the European Union Program "TEMPUS.” The presentation of the project was held as a part of three-day international conference and was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shahkini.
The main purpose of the project is to develop a new model of Medical Education, in accordance with up-to-date standards, and to implement it in Eastern European Neighborhood Countries (Georgia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan). The project will start in Georgia and then will be spread to the Universities of Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
The project will be coordinated by the Britain Lidsey University, which unities 10 of the best universities from 10 countries. The National Center for Education Quality Enhancement under the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, as well as Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan and Ukrainian Medical License Center will be involved in the project. An International Consultative Council formed with famous experts from around the world will act as consultants on this project..
The project's implementation will support the integration of Georgian Universities into the European Educational System and will ensure the high competitiveness of its graduates.
Representatives from Georgian Parliament, City Hall, various ministries, and foreign universities participated in the conference.
