“Association of Azeri Students in Georgia” held its 1st congress in Tbilisi
Association of Azeri Students in Georgia held 1st
congress at Tbilisi State University. The assembly was dedicated to the
birthday of national hero of Azerbaijan, Heidar Aliev.
Chairman of Parliament Davit Bakradze and Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Nodar Surguladze participated in the congress.
During the congress, Chairman of Association of Azeri Students in Georgia, Samira Ismailova held the presentation on achievements of the Association, as well as on the 3 year strategy of the organization.
Those Azeri students, who have been participants of the President’s initiated program “Georgian Language for Future Success” also, took part in the congress.
In order to support the social integration of ethnic minorities, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is implementing the project according to which, quotas are defined specially for Azeri and Armenian entrants for the 2012 national unified exams. They are asked to take a general ability test in their own languages (Azeri and Armenian), on the basis of which the students are enrolled at preparatory programs. Furthermore, Azeri and Armenian students will take a yearlong intensive course in the Georgian Language; afterwards, they will be enrolled at the universities of their choice.
