Netbooks are being assembled for first graders
The Minister, Dimitri Shashkini visited a computer factory “Algorithm” together with prospective first graders and observed a process of assembling the netbooks.
From a new academic year, 60 000 first graders will receive a gift from the President. The netbooks will be assembled in Georgia in the mentioned factory. Leading international experts and physiologists jointly developed the netbooks. All important factors that are essential for early childhood development had been taken into account while producing the netbook.
According to the Minister, Georgian government highlights an importance of provision children with an access to modern technologies from the very early stage of their development. Supplying all public and private schools with high quality internet is a unique resource of obtaining the respective information.
All first graders and their teachers get the net books as a present from the President from 2011. Educational programs and games are loaded on these net-books; net-books make a learning process for the schoolchildren more engaging and fun. The schoolchildren use netbooks as supplementary tool together with the textbooks. The programs of the netbooks were developed in cooperation with computer company Intel.
To support an effective use of ICT technologies in the classroom, the Ministry has trained all head teachers of first graders in applying the ICT.
