The program “Georgian Language for Future Success” began in September 2011 by the initiative of the President. The aim of the project is to improve the knowledge of Georgian language among the ethnic minorities living in Georgia. In the scope of the program, native speaker teachers are teaching Georgian language in the schools of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti. New Georgian language handbooks were also introduced to non Georgian schools as a part of the mentioned project.
The National Center for Quality Enhancement under the Ministry conducted a national assessment in Georgian language; the research showed that engagement of native Georgian speakers in non Georgian schools and introduction of new textbooks was a success.
Up to 300 participants are involved in ”Georgian Language for Future Success” program. The awarded teachers had been teaching Georgian for a year in Samtskhe-Javakheti, Kvemo Kartli, and Kakheti regions.
While conducting Georgian language lessons, the program participants co-taught with local teachers of the Georgian language and assisted the teachers of other subjects to deliver classes bilingually. The teachers participating in the program lived in host families and taught Georgian to family members. Participants also conduct extracurricular activities.
Georgian citizens, who hold a BA degree, are eligible to participate in the “Georgian Language for Future Success” program. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia will fund the M.A studies of participants of the program based on their one year work experience at the schools of the mentioned regions. The participants can also take teacher certification exams.
