The final round of international competition “Leonardo Da Vinci 2012” was held. It was initiated by President of Georgia. The most innovative works were exhibited in Expo-Georgia Pavilion. Out of 44 works 8 projects were created by foreigners. The winners of the projects were awarded on the same day.
The winners were divided into following categories: holder of grand prize going abroad, 1st place was awarded with 5000 GEL, 2nd place – 3000 GEL and 3d place 2000 GEL. Office of Kakhteti Province awarded the winners with 1500 GEL and Kutaisi City Hall also awarded the winners with 1000 GEL.
The winners of different nominations were announced and the best projects were named as well. “Beeline” awarded the winners with mobile phones. National Intellectual Property Center (“Sakpatenti”) awarded the Grand Prize-winning project with Samsung Galaxy mobile.
The competition had participants from the capital city and from other regions of Georgia, as well as Turkey, Ukraine and Armenia. Works of the students were presented in physics, chemistry and biology. Inventions in the fields of agriculture, energetic and engineering were also presented.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia has conducted this contest for two years together with Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation. It aims at encouraging talented students and developing their practical skills.
