Essay competition in the subject “World Culture” has ended. Head of Department of National Curriculum Natia Jokhadze awarded the winners with diplomas and prizes.
The aim of the competition was a creative approach to the topic of the subject “World Culture”. Contestants’ task was to find connection between the topic of the subject and the reality around them.
10-12 graders from public and private schools participated in the competition. They presented individual as well as joint (2-3 students) works. Up to 120 works were presented. Evaluating commission composed of experts and representatives of non-governmental sector selected 14 essays. 22 students worked on these essays. Diploma for the first place and money prize of 700 GEL were awarded to the authors of 3 essays, Diploma and money prize of 500 GEL went to the authors of 4 essays and finally, Diploma and money prize of 300 GEL were handed to the authors of 7 essays for the third best result. The students made short presentations about their works on the ceremony.
A new subject “World Culture” is taught in schools for three years already. The subject is very popular among students. About 800 schools chose this subject from 2011-2012. “World Culture” helps students not only to gain knowledge, but to find explanations of their life experiences.
