Public school was restored in village Mikeleponi
Today, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Aluda Goglichidze
together with MP Davit Lortkipanidze visited a public school in the vlg.
Makelefoni, Vani Municipality. The
school has been separated from village Tobanieri public school and its status has been restored.
With the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, public schools of Mikeleponi and Tobanieri were merged in 2011. The distance from Tobaniani public School to public school in Mekeleponi is 2 kms.
Mikeleponi is a mountainous village with harsh climate. It is noteworthy that children from village Kushubouri and other villages nearby that are 5-6 kilometers away used to go to Mikelefoni. Afrer the two schools were merged, the children had to walk two more kilometers. In winters it was impossible to reach the school. This became the reason for migration from the village.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia took into consideration request of the residents of the village and in compliance with the Order №252/N of December 24, 2012 optimization of these schools took place.
At present, there are 39 pupils willing to study in Mikeleponi public school. 12 teachers will be employed. The school is in normal working condition and the administration is ready to continue teaching/learning process.
