First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Tamar Sanikidze visited a public school in village Bogvi, Tetritskaro municipality. Tamar Sanikidze met 120 pupils who are served with a new bus to reach the school.
With the initiative of the Ministry, new Project “School accessibility” was launched in January 2013. The aim of the Project is to provide with means of transport those pupils who have to walk long distances in order to reach their schools. 190 public schools are involved in the project and over 9000 pupils now have school buses. From March 2013, school buses will serve 100 more schools.
120 pupils of Bogvi School live in 7 neighbouring villages. They had to walk 5-6 kilometers to reach the school. The problem is solved today as the pupils are safely driven to and from the school.
Tender winning companies are providing transportation services. The schools are not responsible for technical maintenance and petrol provision. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia allocated 2.6 million GEL for the Project.
