During the conference Deputy Minister of Education and Science Aluda Goglichidze answered the questions of the members of Tbilisi school clubs and pupils form all regions of Georgia participating in the conference via Skype.

Civic Education and Teacher Training Program is carried out by PH International with the financial support of USAID. The aim of the program is to improve quality of civic education school program and assist young people to improve level of education, attitudes and behavior. The program is carried out with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The program operates in all regions and cooperates with 740 schools throughout Georgia. Four sets (114,440 textbooks in total) of auxiliary textbooks in civic education were developed within the framework of the program and handed to the schools.

740 civic education teachers were trained according to accredited training course (Teaching Democratic Citizenship). Civic education teachers’ forum is set up which gives teachers opportunity for professional growth. More than 200 school clubs operate throughout Georgia, carrying out useful projects for the local community.

350 projects presented by pupils and teachers were financed through web-portal www.initiatives.ge, up to 700 school principals passed a seminar on the importance of civic education, materials on civic education were handed to 11 Resource Centers and in order to set up libraries, 700 pupils were trained in social media, 440 pupils and teachers participated in summer camps (I am an Active Citizen), training in public debate are held, interactive web-site www.civics.ge operates, successful school clubs are awarded with club equipment sets.

Interim analysis of the program revealed its positive influence on the beneficiaries.
