The Department started working in the abovementioned direction from 2012 with the financial support of UNICEF. Experts have organized information meetings with teachers and parents from Tbilisi and the regions and their trainings.
Natia Jokhadze, Head of National Curriculum Department opened the meeting. International and non-governmental organizations (among them, USAID/G-PriEd, Civic Development Institute), National Curriculum Department staff, public school teachers and parents participated in the meeting.
It was noted that parents’ involvement in school life has a considerable importance for pupils’ success. According to surveys, the more parents are involved in school life the best is pupil’s achievement level. Level of motivation increases, pupil’s approach towards school is more positive, quality of goals determined by National Curriculum and discipline are improving. One of the most important components is a positive attitude between parents and schools.
National Curriculum Department is planning a number of programs in the direction of parents’ involvement in 2013. Special email mshobeli@mes.gov.ge is opened for all interested parents. They are able to address the Department with questions about the topics of involvement, modern strategy etc.
