Printing of school textbooks is under way
According
to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, pupils
shall have school textbooks free of charge for the school year 2013-2014.
Printing is provided by “United Georgian Publishing House Favoriti Print and
MVP”. 1.5 million textbooks have already been printed. Today, Minister of
Education visited the Publishing House and got familiar with the process.
Minister also visited the place where the textbooks are stored.
“United Georgian Publishing House Favoriti Print and MVP” was established as a result of merger of four high-quality printing enterprises (Ltd Favoriti Print, Ltd. Porma, Ltd. Sezani and Ltd. MVP (24 Hours Publishing House) and other small printing enterprises. Today 9 printing houses work on the process of printing textbooks. As a result, 1600 citizens are employed.
New initiative of the Ministry will encourage development of Georgian printing and other types of businesses, such as printing material importing companies, transportation companies and storage companies. This in turn means that taxes paid by the companies shall remain in the budget of Georgia.
Process of distribution of already printed textbooks in schools will start from June 15.
