Investment in the Future of Georgia
Conference “Investment in the
Future of Georgia – National Plan for Development and Life of Children” organized by UNICEF has
been opened today. The Conference is attended by representatives of Parliament
of Georgia, Government of Georgia, civil society and scientific circles Prime
Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili opened the Conference.
The aim of the Conference is to identify problems related to life and development of children in early age and to elaborate specific recommendations for their eradication. The Conference will last till the end of the day, a presentation on research results (children poverty, feeding and pre-school education) conducted by UNICEF will be held.
National Declaration for Development and Life of Children will be adopted by the end of the Conference and call for concrete actions will be made.
Early age (0-5) is the most important period for the development of a child. Investing in children during this period encourages economic development of the country. As a result of acquired social skills, intellectual development and education a person is more competitive on labor market and brings more benefits to the country.
