First Deputy Minister of Education and Science Ketevan Natriashvili and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania in Georgia, H.E. Jonas Paslauskas visited Lithuanian Language Center at Georgian Technical University together with representatives of the Sejm.
Any student from Georgian Technical University, other universities or education institutions and also, any person who wishes to learn Lithuanian language is able to attend lectures free of charge at the Center of Lithuanistics of Georgian Technical University. Professor Vidas Kavaliauskais from Lithuania is giving lectures.
Within the framework of Memorandum signed between Georgian Technical University and the University of Klaipeda, the students learning Lithuanian language at the Center will be able to continue learning the language (short summer courses) in Lithuania. Language skills will give them opportunity to participate in exchange bachelor programs of the University of Klaipeda. There are approximately 100 students in the Center. Some of them have already participated in different exchange programs.
Lithuanian Language Center shall encourage deepening of Georgian-Lithuanian relations, help students get familiar with Lithuanian history, culture and customs. The initiative belongs to Georgian Technical University; financial support comes from the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania. It is noteworthy that successful students of the Language Center will be awarded with a stipend from the Government of Lithuania.
