9 new schools to be built throughout Georgia
The
Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is to implement unprecedented
project- construction of nine new schools in different regions shall start from
November 2013. Monitoring process has been under way for several months by the
corresponding agency of the Ministry in order to study infrastructure condition
of the schools. As a result, it was decided, due to urgency, to build
nine schools in the villages:
- Village Lambalo, Sagarejo district. A school for 1000 pupils
- Village Abano, Kareli district. A school for 90 pupils
- Village Samgereti, Tetritskaro district. A school for 144 pupils
- Village Sadguri Sviri, Zestaponi district. A school for 120 pupils
- Village Akhali Dioknisi, Marneuli district. A school for 144 pupils
- Village Mukhrani, Mtskheta district. A school for 240 pupils
- Village Tsipnari, Chokhatauri district. A school for 60 pupils
- Village Tsilkani, Mtksheta district. A school for 450 pupils
- Village Bughasheni, Akhalkalaki district. A school for 120 pupils.
Pupils in the abovementioned villages have harsh conditions for learning. In certain cases, schools are arranged in rented or abandoned buildings. Exploitation period of the existing school buildings have already expired and at present they are subject to deconstruction. 9 new schools meeting modern standards will be built instead. This is the first time the Ministry is carrying out such a large-scale construction process.
Work on the projects is finished and tenders will be announced shortly. Every detail are taken into consideration for each school.
As Minister Tamar Sanikidze noted, quality has to be achieved and the schools have to be comfortable, meet standards of general education institutions as well as needs of pupils and teachers.
The construction process shall start in the end of November of the current year and the majority of schools will be finished in the period of a year. Lambalo school is the largest-scale project. The school will be finished in approximately fifteen months or a year and a half.
Coming out from the importance and scale of the project and with the initiative of Minister Tamar Sanikidze, Minister of Energy Kakha Kaladze, Minister of Finance Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Davit Narmania, Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Levan Kipiani and First Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitri Kumsiashvili were invited to attend the presentation.
