For the first time in Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia starts IT audit pilot project. The project is organized by Harmonization Center of the Ministry of Finance and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Within the framework of the pilot program, Alexander Onoprishvili, head of Internal Audit Department of the Ministry of Education and Science held a working meeting with Czech international expert Peter Greshley.
As Alexander Onoprishvili noted, it is important for the Department to have IT audit experience that meets international standards, to enable audit working group members to give effective recommendations in the field of information technologies.
Petr Gresl has eight-year experience in IT audit and fifteen-year experience in IT business and risks management. He has worked in Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Georgian Law on State Internal Financial Control envisages five types of audit. At present, only financial and compliance audits are performed in the country. Internal Audit Department of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is an exception. The Department has piloted a systemic audit and an IT audit as well.
Later, Internal Audit Department of the Ministry will share the experience to other Ministries.
