Minister of Education and Science of Georgia visited village
Ananuri Public School in Dusheti and held a meeting with teachers and
administrative-technical staff. Tamar Sanikidze introduced a new scheme
of financing to them and talked about the changes in school financing mechanism
– one standard voucher.
Financing represents one of the important factors for general
education development. In order to improve effectiveness of schools, the
Ministry has set out priorities and carried out substantial changes in
voucher-based financing model:
- Salaries
of teachers and administrative staff have increased
- Voucher
financing has considerably increased for public schools located in villages,
Dabas and mountainous regions, based on geographic location. Changes enable a
school to set out priorities to meet specific needs and plan own budget.
- Inclusive
education is taken into consideration in a new system of financing and schools
for pupils with special educational needs shall receive more funding. Sum of
money is destined for the provision of inclusive services (special teacher,
psychologist, inclusive education coordinator, relevant infrastructure,
equipment).
There are 63 pupils in Ananuri Public School; three of them are
pupils with special educational needs and for this reason, schools receive 4200
GEL annually. Tsikhisdziri School is optimized with სAnanuri public school and
thus, it receives additional funding.
According to the new mechanism, Ananuri Public School shall have
increased financing in the amount of 8 000 GEL beginning from 2013-2014.
Voucher-based financing has increased by 1600 GEL in total for this school.
