MCC Georgia made a presentation of the study findings on “Obstacles for participation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics educational programs and study of employment market demands” in cooperation with IPM-Research. The Research started in July 2013. Data processing has been going on for five months.

The findings have revealed that girls’ academic performance in STEM subjects throughout the education process, starting from school to employment period, is very close or equals to that of the boys’. Though, more boys continue their career in STEM professions.

Qualitative and quantitative study has shown that girls underestimate their skills in STEM subjects compared with boys. Students of vocational and higher education institutions note that family attitude plays an important role in career planning. 

It is vital to motivate girls in order to increase their confidence. 

Development of the workforce is a crucial factor for long-term economic development of the country.  For this purpose, MCC Second Compact will carry out a strategic investment to develop general, vocational and higher educational programs. Special emphasis is made on women and socially unprotected people and access to STEM educational programs for them.
