Deputy Minister of Education and Science Lia Gigauri and representatives of National Center for Teachers’ Professional Development introduced new scheme for teachers’ professional development to the teachers.
The teachers were familiarized with draft four-step professional standard, a basis for the new scheme. The standard will be approved in the nearest future.
Goal of the meeting was to introduce draft standard to acting teachers and to consider their ideas and recommendations.
Continuous professional development is a process that helps teachers to face challenges of the profession. They are given an opportunity to raise qualification and thus benefit a school in which they are employed. According to the new scheme, teachers will be able to move forward from one category another in a shorter period of time. Eventually, career development will be linked to increase in salary.
Meeting with teachers will continue in other regions as well.
