Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Ms. Tamar Sanikidze and representatives of project implementing agency, today have attended open lesson about professional orientation in Tbilisi 47 Public School, talked with pupils and listened to their estimates.
Professional orientation and career planning programs are implemented by selected consultants, who have passed competition and have undergone trainings for the following areas: basic aspects of professional orientation and career planning, communication, adolescent age characteristics. In 2013-2014 academic year, the program was implemented in 107 pilot schools, the number of pilot schools for the 2014-2015 academic year has increased to 482.
In all pilot school once per month, in tutorial hour, professional consultants with class head teacher give professional orientation and career planning lessons. For these purpose head teachers have special training courses. In preparation of teachers retraining training-modules are involved National Center for Teacher Professional Development with the coordinators of professional orientation and career planning.
In respect of students interests are planned and implemented visits in agencies and manufacturing plants, as well as in vocational and high education institutes. In pilot schools are organized meetings with representatives of different professions, under these format students have opportunity to learn more about professions they are interested in and also about professions which are the most in demand in the labor market. The program encourages schools and employers reach each other and cooperate.
