Public lecture by Professor Swidler
At the discretion of San Diego State University and
with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Alan
Swidler - professor at San Diego State University, Director of the Center for
Energetic Materials Research and Environmental Protection, PhD, - held a
lecture about the topic “Energetics, climate change and safety in the 21st
century”. The lecture was opened and the audience was addressed by Georgian
Minister of Education and Science Tamar Sanikidze. The event was attended by
Magda Magradze - CEO of the Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia, Ken Walsh –
the dean of San Diego State University in Georgia, as well as professors and
students from Georgian universities and others interested.
Professor Swidler is a leading figure in devising energy politics and has been studying issues of energetics for 30 years. He is a member and director of the board of the founders of the San Diego Regional Office for Energetics. He previously worked at the U.S. Senate on the issues of energetics, water supply and national safety. For the last few years, he has been working on issues such as environmental impact on energy consumption, climate change, international safety and distribution of renewable energy technologies.
Within the framework of higher education component of the Millennium Challenge Account-Georgia, San Diego State University (SDSU) offers students a range of high quality accredited (ABET, ACS, WASC) Bachelor programs in the areas of engineering and technology (STEM). The alumni will be awarded American diplomas. The aforementioned programs will help develop technology and natural sciences and prepare highly qualified workforce in Georgia. The project is carried out by the financial support of the second compact of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), U.S.
