The winners of Young Inventors’ Competition “Leonardo da Vinci”, comprising Georgian pupils, will participate in the world’s biggest competition in science and engineering – the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) held in Pittsburgh, USA. The Georgian pupils travelled to the United States this morning. At the fair their inventions will be introduced to representatives of different countries.

The Young Inventors’ Competition “Leonardo da Vinci” is annually held by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The purpose of the competition is to discover and motivate pupils that are interested in science and innovations and have talent to invent; also to help develop the level of education and practical skills of adolescents, and deepen their interest in technical progress.

The grand prize of the “Leonardo da Vinci” competition was won by Temur ChiChua, Aleksandre Toidze and Nikoloz Minashvili. Vakhtang Donadze and Irakli Chkheidze are first place winners, Irakli Kapanadze and Karlo Khutsishvili – second place winners, and Nika Alavidze – third place winner.

The conduct and administration of the competition are provided by the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of the Ministry,. As for the travel costs for the winners of the “Leonardo da Vinci” competition, their flights to the United States were covered by the Intel Foundation.

Attracting young minds to the scientific field, and arousing interest in the youth already in school years, will in the future contribute to the fulfilment and development of the scientific potential of the country.
