Georgia – member of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research
Representatives of member countries
of Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna) are visiting Georgia for
working purposes. Today they participated in a round table conference held in
Georgian Technical University. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia
also attended the meeting.
The discussion of the meeting was about the results of co-operation of our country with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, about joint projects and participation of Georgian physicists in them.
Joint Institute of Nuclear Research Institute is an international scientific-research organization. The scope of its research is nuclear physics. 18 countries of the world are united in the institute, including Georgia. The institute collaborates with the international organizations Fermilab (USA), KEK (Japan), CERN (Switzerland) and DESY (Germany), up to 700 scientific-research centers and 60 higher education facilities. It is actively involved in international projects (LHC, FAIR, XFEL).
Almost all scientific-research institutes of Georgia that work in the field of physics and mathematics successfully collaborate with the research institute of Dubna, which plays significant role in employment of Georgian physicists and their participation in international projects. Nowadays, up to 30 Georgian scientists are successfully working in the research laboratories of the institute, their path to leader international projects is open.
Georgian scientists are able to use huge information data base of the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research. Educational-scientific center of the institute is a unique opportunity for Georgian aspirants for practicing and getting an international experience. Special conditions are created for the students, so they can enhance theoretic knowledge as well as gain practical skills and actively participate in research works in various laboratories of the institute.
Joint Institute of Nuclear Research is being constantly developed in compliance with the international requirements. Development strategy of the institute includes creating new base mountings, renewing-modernizing existing ones and actively participating in the international projects some of which are notable: CERN (Switzerland), KEK (Japan), GSI (Germany), FNAL and BNL (USA). All above mentioned includes creating new workplaces and Georgia, as a plenipotentiary member, can involve more specialists and employ them in international projects.
