Final round of scientific-innovative competition was held
In the hotel Tbilisi Marriott a
final round of scientific-innovative competition of schoolgirls was held. 20
finalist schoolgirls made a presentation of innovative project. The competent
jury determined winner projects and presented them with prizes and gifts.
The project was carried out with the financing of US embassy in Georgia and support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, and in collaboration with Georgian Research and Development Foundation (GRDF), Civil Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global), American Chamber of Commerce and National Intellectual Property Center “Sakpatenti”.
The goal of the program was to stimulate leading role of women in the sphere of science, technologies, engineering and mathematics (STEM); to increase interest among girls to choose STEM directions for further university education. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Giorgi Sharvashidze and US ambassador in Georgia Richard Norland.
“One of the strategic directions of the Ministry of Education and Science is a support of gender equality and increasing of women’s role in the society. We consider it very important to include pupils in the scientific activities, especially girls interested in technical directions and facilitate their professional choice in this sphere”, - said Giorgi Shervashidze.
As invited experts mentioned Georgia has many interesting innovations which have the potential to freely enter world market.
