The goal of the program is to facilitate development of intellectual potential in Georgia and training of highly qualified science personnel, integration of education and scientific research and creating appropriate conditions for it.
In 2013-2014 years up to 230 doctoral students received funding. Full budget of 2013 grant competition was 1 935 850 lari, and for 2014 – 2 560 886 lari. Full budget allotted per one doctoral student is differently financed along semesters: for the 6-semester project maximal amount of educational-research grant is defined as 63000 lari, for 5-semester project – 52500 lari, 4-semester project – 42000 lari, 3-semester project – 31500 lari, and for 2-semester project – 21000 lari.
The project initiated by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, allows doctoral student to be occupied only by research activity and not seek an additional job to pay educational fee. On the path of euro-integration, for our country there is vitally necessary to obtain qualified working personnel which have an ability to define prospects for future based on research and rationale and implement these prospects. The program of financing of beginning scientists is serving exactly this objective.
Also, the International Center for Education under the Prime Minister is functioning for second year, and is funding young cadres through the organizing competitions, to complete their education abroad on master and doctoral stage. The center is promoting integration of Georgia in international academic space and realization of highly qualified human resources after their return in Georgia.
In the framework of event, Irakli Garibashvili got familiarized with assessments and proposals of doctoral students. Prime Minister, along with the Minister of Education and Science, responded to all questions from doctoral students.
