Within the framework of United Nations Development Program ‘skills for employment- phase II’, Quality management system ISO 9001-2008 was implemented in community college ‘Iberia’ and vocational college ‘Fazisi’. This is Unprecedented case in Georgia in terms of gaining international recognition to vocational education institutions. In June, 2015, International Personnel Certification (TÜV). The certification of mentioned colleges was carried out in quality management, after which they were given international certificates.
During the preparation of certification, UNDP contractor- Ltd ‘Managements Systems’ gave a great assistance to the colleges. Mentioned organization had a tight contact with the Department of Vocational Education and National Center for Education Quality Enhancement.at the first stage, the coordination group was formed, which consisted of employees in vocational colleges. The coordination group worked about quality control issues, made preliminary assessment of vocational colleges and developed quality control manual according to the standards of ISO 9001-2008. On the basis of above mentioned issues, following processes were introduced:
a) Document management;
b) Development and planning of quality management system;
c) Technical infrastructure management;
d) Personnel management
e) Service Lifecycle Management (SLM)
f) Meteorological provision of control-measuring instruments
g) Personnel safety management
In order to keep quality management system sustainability, the certified colleges will use implemented analysis/planning mechanisms, which is based on the modern management of sustainability assessment and reclamation. In order to evaluate system sustainability, Supervisory body will carry out annual audit.
Implementation of ISO 9001-2008 standards in mentioned colleges, will support managing vocational colleges in accordance with the international standards, it will improve quality management (among them is education quality improvement) and it will increase the number of skilled laborers on the job market.
