School doctors took a course to support and promote a healthy lifestyle for the adolescents and the youth. Today, Deputy Minister of Education and Science - Lia Gigauri, the General Director of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health - Amiran Gamkrelidze and the head of the UNFPA office - Lela Bakradze handed out the certificates.
To strengthen the knowledge of school doctors and enhance their skills is one of the priorities for the Ministry of Education and Science, as well as for the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health.
The doctors’ training is being conducted in Lausanne University, with the partnership of Continuing Education Service (EuTEACH). Within the cooperation framework, a training module was set up for the doctors, and 20 trainers were chosen, who will step by step, transfer this knowledge to the existing school doctors in the education system. By this time, there has already been 63 school doctors who passed the above mentioned course.
The next stage is planned for Disease Control and Prevention National Center in order to integrate them into the module of constant education system.
This initiative will enhance the effectiveness of school healthcare, which will reflect positively on the general health of teenagers and adolescents.
