There was a opening ceremony held at the Municipal Palace of Sports regarding the School Sports Olympiad 2016. School Sports Olympics are held across the country, including all of its municipalities, as well as the teams from the private and public schools. Moreover, more than 5,000 teams from 1,200 schools participated in the 2016 Olympics, which is unprecendented.

The Olympiad was organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs, and the federation of Youth Sports and Children. Also, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia promotes the Olympiad 2016, and is supported by the National Olympic Committee.

The project aims to address the public and especially the youth sports and school involvement in mass sports development.

Brief information about the school sport for the Olympics:

The terms, regulations and the time span of the Olympics is defined in accordance with the time span of the coressponding academic year.

Olympics program is divided into four main stages, the first stage - is the inter-school competitions; 2nd stage – is reserved to the Municipal competitions, 3rd stage - regional and 4th stage - Olympic Games final, which takes place in “Future Camp” located in Anaklia.

3. Table tennis (girls and boys)

4. Cross running (girls and boys)

5. Handball (girls and boys)

6. Volleyball (girls and boys)

9. Cognitive sports Olympics

The Olympics are held in compliance with the rules and regulations of the general Olympic competitions with the participation of the national and international federations.
