For the first time, International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) will be held in Georgia, which starts on July 23, up to August 1, 2016. Moreover, the Olympiad hosted in Georgia will be the biggest Olympiad ever to be hosted in its history. Despite having a larger-scale, it is holds a world-renowned reputation, which gives an extraordinary reputation to students from more than 100 countries across the globe.
At this stage, there are participants from 84 countries registered for the “Olympiad 2016”. Besides the fact, that our students will have the chance to compete in a more comfortable environment, there are foreign students, mentors, head mentors, scientific observers summing up to 800 guests arriving in Georgia. This is an exceptional opportunity to showcase the education, the culture and the heritage of our country to the world.
This is an unprecedented case in the history of the Olympics, when Georgia is hosting an event of such scale. This kind of circumstances are very rare, as countries are waiting for decades to host the event, since the host countries for the consecutive Olympiads are already known until 2021.
The Deputy Chairman of the Steering Committee - Elizbar Elizbarashvili, on behalf of Mr. Gabor Magyarfalvi – the Chairman, passed the flag of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) to the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
