The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia signed a memorandum of cooperation with the NGO “Berilus”, which provides the maintenance of collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Science and and “Berilus”, initiated in 2014-2015. The memo aims to encourage young individuals with special educational needs to socialize with their peers and promote their interest towards the education.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, cooperates with the organization “Berilus" since  2014. Due to this active collaboration, there are numerous reading and theater clubs functioning in different regions, where the young population living under different social backgrounds and capabilities deriving from one community continously meet with each other, read novels,  exhange/ share their  ideas, prepare plays,  and perform various shows not only for the local community, but for some theater festivals as well. The following encourages the growth of their self-esteem, as well as the realiztion of their inner potential. Moreover, such activities increase general public awareness and change the stereotypical attitude towards the adolescents with special educational needs.

There are some activities planned to be impemented for the gypsy adolescents, to improve their linguistic problems and support their farther involmenet in general school life. Since 2014, within this project framework, 175 young gypsy students were enrolled in schools.

Moreover, in order support the integration and increase the knowledge of Georgian language for the repatriated and stateless Meskhetian teenagers, there were number of activities held since 2014, including seminars, summer schools, and forming of local reading and theater clubs. At present, there are 106 Meskhetian teenagers involved in this process.

Furthermore, since 2014 there are activities being implemented at Samtredia N15 city public school, for the youth with behavioral and emotional disorders to support their socialization with the peers, and improve their academic and communication skills.

Additionally, summer schools are being organized for the teens living in the mountainous region, as well as for the Gypsy, Meskhetian  and refugee adolescenets. Where besides their academic kills, a special attention is paid to the teamwork, communication and linguistic issues.

The updated memorandum of cooperation, besides the other target groups, also includes the integration of muslim population of village Duiss and Jokholo into these state programs in conjunction with enhancing their state language abilities.
