2015-2016 National School Olympiad winners have been announced. The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Aleksandre Jejelava together with the deputy minister, Lia Gigauri today awarded the winners of the different subject categories.
This year, on avarage 100 000 students participated in the olympiad held for 10th – 12th graders in the following disciplines:
Georgian Language and Literature (for native and non-native speakers), Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, History, Foreign Languages (English, German and Russian). Besides Georgian, olympiad was also held in Armenian, Azeri and Russian languages. Also students having visual impairments were able to participate (by help of Braille Scripts).
Olympiad involves three stages: primary, regional and final rounds and is organized by the National Assessment and Examination Center while the awarding criteria for the winners is being determined by the Ministry of Education and Science.
Olympiad revealed 121 winners. 1st place (15 students), 2nd (15 students), 3rd (14 students) and 77 top ten. Winners were accordingly provided with the diplomas and the gift cards worth 1000, 700, 500 and 50 GEL at computer technics and accessory stores. Besides students, also the 1st, 2nd and 3rd schools in the ranking list were awarded with the certificates of appreciation.
In scales of the “Subprogram of Promoting Successful Schools and Teachers” also the teachers of the winner students will soon be awarded with the financial sums (money will be transferred on school accounts).
