A second workshop for the Education Development Platform was held. Students met with the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation Supervisory Board members at Techno Park.
Participants discussed issues such as academic freedom, university autonomy, university organizational structure, integration of research and teaching, funding and other external evaluation schemes. The students were able to meet with local and foreign scientists, including Professor Neil MacFarlane, Roger Cashmore, Melita Kovacevic, Zaza Kokaia and other honorary scientists.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia with the initiative of Georgian government has established the platform for the higher education. A meeting was held between the students and the First deputy Minister of Education and Science – Mr. George Sharvashidze in the newly built library on the brand new student lodging premises, where they agreed to discuss major issues, such as university autonomy, academic freedom, external referral, quality improvement and etc.
The meetings under the Education Development Platform framework will continue to intensify.
