The event was opened by the head of the Free Union and Educators and Scientists in Georgia – “It is wonderful, that our country has launched a new movement towards appreciating the teachers and increasing the prestige of this profession, which in is full compliance with the joint message of the participating four international organizations – “Appreciating teachers and raising their status”. We believe that serious changes will occur in our country. The teachers will return the unfairly lost authority in the society, Georgian community will appreciate teachers hard work even more, and we think that the National Teachers’ Day will turn into a celebration day” – said Maia Kobakhidze.
The Minister of Education and Science – Aleksandre Jejelava congratulated the teachers and the audience and wished them success in their future endeavors. The minister in his lengthy speech addressed the important issues in the general education and answered the questions towards the end.
During the event, successful teachers were given special certificates by the deputy Minister – Lia Gigauri
